Welcome to the American Heart Association

Dear Neighbor Campaign Website

You have been invited to join the fight against heart disease and stroke!

What is the American Heart Association?

Founded in 1924, the American Heart Association is the nation's oldest and largest voluntary health organization dedicated to building healthier lives, free of heart disease and stroke. To help prevent, treat and defeat these diseases - America's No. 1 and No. 3 killers - we fund cutting-edge research, conduct lifesaving public and professional educational programs, and advocate to protect public health. As an organization, we want to empower you and your loved ones to save lives, live healthier and enjoy more peace of mind about cardiovascular health.

Take charge of your health with these tips:

  • Get your blood pressure checked regularly
High blood pressure is a risk factor for heart attack and stroke.

  • Be physically active
Try to get 30 minutes of physical activity on most or all days of the week.

  • Eat a healthful diet
Enjoy foods that are low in saturated fats and cholesterol.

What is the Dear Neighbor Campaign?

The Dear Neighbor Campaign is a concentrated effort by the American Heart Association and its volunteers to promote healthy living and help fund our life-saving mission. Let's join the American Heart Association in the fight against heart disease and stroke -- so we can fund more research, educate more people and play an even greater role in building healthier lives. Together, we can make a big difference!

Take these steps now to reduce your risks:

  • Quit smoking!
Smoking cigarettes significantly increases your risks for cardiovascular diseases and stroke.

  • Recognize and treat diabetes
If you have diabetes, never stop taking your medicine without talking to your doctor first.

  • Don’t drink too much alcohol
If you drink, limit your alcohol intake to 1-2 drinks a day.

  • Have regular medical checkups
